Rough cut. Well, more like a rough rough cut. This is my first time experimenting with performance video, so bare with me…
I was using the sony camera which does not give the feel that I wanted. I also filmed it on the grey background as I though it would give a rough edge against the clean and simple vibe. Obviously the highlights on the ice cream are blown, I didnt realize it at the time (there were a lot of people around, the light was going away and I am not familiar with the sony camera)
Obviously we will have to a reshoot (scheduled for samedi matin).
This to ameliorate:
-Film on black background (might do a test on grey or white)
-Darker ice cream(maple maybe?!)
-Use 5D, with a short telephoto, F11, keep arm close to the person for better focus
-Use warm lights (not fluo) to help with the melting (try to reduce time to 5-7 min)
-No core crushing at the end, less is more
-Record sound? People walking, ice cone, ice cream being scooped? Will experiement.
I want the multimedia piece to be a contemporary performance video
Then there is this video that I saw at the MFA expo that I really liked (and an other one that seems impossible to find online but I am in the process of contacting the artist)

I was really moved by that video installation when it first came out and I now realized that my piece is heavily influenced on adad hannah’s work
After the vernissage of the Concordia MFA I got quite inspired by the more contemporary approach to contemporary art.
I then remember one of my favorite comtemporary local artist Adad Hannah
I want to do a video, almost a still that wil be charged with meaning but minimal in movement and aesthetics. I want to express this as a performance piece
I want to do a women in a niqab holding an icream cone that will be slowly melting.
